2015-2016 Butternut Race Team Important Information. Think Snow.

December 15, 2015

The forecast shows colder weather arriving in the Berkshires late this week, and continuing throughout most of the weekend.   Butternut will resume blowing snow and open up as soon as possible.   We can’t wait!

A long post with a lot of info – please read all!

Check www.butternutrace.com for updates regarding opening day and all pertinent information for our entire race program throughout the season.

Please refer to our calendar  http://butternutrace.com/calendar/ which contains race dates for this season to better plan ahead for your racer’s schedule.

Be sure to register for both USSA and Tristate (this is mandatory for both Interclub and Tristate racers) before the season begins. http://my.ussa.org/membership/start
(It’s a single registration for both USSA & Tristate.)

For Tristate racers, we will notify you under separate cover about our first practice.  Of course, the timing is weather dependent.

Your Feedback: Pre-Season Survey
Thanks for your participation in our pre-season race survey.  We had input from 74 of you, representing over a 20% participation rate.  Thank you!
Here’s what you liked:
1) Overall satisfaction with the race program at Butternut was rated 8.72 out of 10 and nearly 90% of you are either very satisfied or satisfied with our race programs.
2) All 3 programs (Development, Interclub and Tristate) were highly rated, with Interclub scoring the highest at 94.4% either very satisfied or satisfied. Tristate scored 80% and 72% for Development.
3) The race program emails are informative and appreciated.

Here’s what you think needs improvement:
1) Our www.butternutrace.com website needs improvement.  You’ll be happy to know we’ve appointed two Webmasters (Jessica Musiak and Craig Zolan) who already have improved our content and website functionality.  Our website will serve as the main source of information this year, so please visit it frequently.
2) You told us we need to have improved early season information meetings with coaches and better posts on Facebook.
3) 95% of you are interested in selling used ski equipment and as a result, we’re happy to announce a new “Classified” section on our race website.  You can now post items to sell by uploading a photo, short description and email address.  Click here to check it out. http://butternutrace.com/classifieds-2/
4) You have asked for more planning from our Race Club leadership.  We plan to begin to address this by sharing with you our plans to improve the program in the beginning of the season.  Our 2015-2016 plan  will focus in 3 main areas:

  1. Racer skill improvement
  2. Race program efficiency
  3. Improving services to our parent community

Additional  information will be forthcoming  once we get on the snow.

5) While 73% of you are satisfied with our socials, many asked for some improvement.  Paula Scully has volunteered to lead our social and raffle committee and we are looking forward to some new, exciting changes.  Social dates will be announced and posted online shortly.  If you have any ideas please email us at butternutrace@gmail.com.

Butternut Race Team Jackets – Now Available
We’re pleased to announce our webstore is open and you can begin to place orders now for our Spyder jackets here http://store.butternutrace.com/ .  The jackets are much better quality this year with a heavier fabric and warmer insulation properties.  Quantities are limited so get your orders in now.  Inventory is already in stock and due to low inventory levels at Spyder, we don’t expect to be able to reorder.  Sizes range from Youth 8-18 and Adult XS and Small.  Orders placed online by Sunday December 20th will be available for pickup in the Butternut Ski Shop (see Penny or Pam) by December 24th.

We welcome all of you to a new race season at Butternut!  Visit our website often for up to date information throughout the season. http://butternutrace.com/
